Advantages of Antenna Diplexer
Cost and space savings
In large-scale 5G networks, antennas will need to be doubled due to shorter distances between base stations. By using an antenna duplexer, the number of antennas can be reduced by using the same antenna for both transmit and receive, thus reducing infrastructure costs.
Improve communication quality
Duplexers ensure that both transceivers and receivers operate simultaneously and smoothly by effectively isolating the transmit and receive signals. This design prevents the return of the local transmitter signal and ensures that the receiver is free from interference, thus improving communication quality.


Adaptable to a wide range of communication systems
Duplexer is applicable to a variety of wireless communication systems, such as GSM, CDMA and WCDMA, etc. These systems usually use filter-type antenna multiplexers, i.e. duplexers.
Stability and Durability
The structural robustness and stability of duplexers enable them to maintain stable communication quality in harsh environments. Their miniaturisation and ease of installation also make them suitable for mobile communications and unattended repeaters in the field.
Types of Antenna Diplexer
Same frequency duplexing
In this case, TX and RX operate in the same operating band at the same time, and the isolation of TX/RX is usually realised by the unidirectional transmission characteristic of a ferrite device such as a circulator. This type of antenna common is called a circulator type antenna common.
Dual frequency duplexing
In this case, TX and RX operate separately in the frequency band with a certain frequency division, and two filters are tuned in the corresponding frequency bands, and the antenna is shared in the form of a Y-junction. This type is called a common filter type antenna, in practice it is usually called a duplexer.
Same frequency half duplex
In this case, RX and TX operate in the same frequency band and the isolation between the two is realised by a switch, usually an SPDT switch. This category is called switched antenna common, usually referred to as transceiver antenna switch.
Enabling multiple transmitters to use a single antenna
Broadcast stations often use multiple frequencies, possibly for different programmes / station names. In view of the size and cost of the antennas they may have a single vertical antenna and they may want to combine the signals from several transmitters to feed into the antenna. As they are on different frequencies, it is possible to use a diplexer to combine the signals and use a single feed.
Enabling a multiband transmitter to use different antennas according to frequency
Some transmitters like some ham radio transmitters can cover very wide ranges of bands - for ham radio transmitters there is a growing trend towards transmitters covering HF and VHF bands. They may even extend into the UHF region. Often one antenna system may be used for HF operation, and another for V/UHF operation. If there is a single transmitter output, a diplexer can be used to route HF signs to the HF antenna, and V/UHF signals to the V/UHF antenna.
Allowing single feeder to be used for multiple feeds, e.g. TV & radio
Within a domestic scenario, it is often useful to have an external VHF FM or digital radio antenna along with a television antenna using single feeder. The signals from he antennas can be combined at the antenna end using diplexer, and a second diplexer at the point of use to route the signals to the radio and television. This can work well because television signals typically use frequencies above 300 MHz, often 400MHz and more, whereas VHF FM radio is between 87.5 and 108MHz, of within the VHF band is digital radio is used.
